Born in 1974, Valeria Parrella is an Italian author and playwright. She debuted in 2003 with the short story collection Mosca più balena, for which she was awarded the Premio Campiello in 2004 for the best debut and other literary prizes. She was shortlisted twice for the Strega Prize: with the collection Per grazia ricevuta (minimum fax, 2005) and with the novel Almarina (Einaudi, 2019). So far she published three short stories collections and eight novels and she wrote several theatre pieces. Her books have been translated in 11 languages.
