Born in Naples in 1969, he is a lecturer at Istituto Universitario di Lingue Moderne in Milan and a long-time expert in the language of war and violence at the University of Bergamo. He has been writing editorials for La Stampa, as well as essays and historical novels. He received numerous awards (e.g. Premio Edoardo Kihlgren, Premio Fregene, Premio Campiello, Premio Mondello). In 2020, his M. Syn stulecia was published by Sonia Draga (translation by Alina Pawłowska-Zampino). It received Premio Strega award in 2019.
