Domenico
Starnone
A writer, a screenwriter, and a journalist, Domenico Starnone was born in Saviano outside Naples. He has worked for several newspapers and satirical magazines, including L’Unità, Il Manifesto, Tango and Cuore, where he usually wrote about his life as a high school teacher. His books were the basis for the films La scuola by Daniele Luchetti (1995), Auguri professore by Riccardo Milani (1997), Denti by Gabriele Salvatores (2000) and the TV show Fuoriclasse (2011-2015). In 2001, he received the Premio Strega award for his novel Via Gemito. He also published Ties (Polish translation Sznurówki by Stanislaw Kasprzysiak was published by W.A.B in 2017) and Trick (Polish translation Psikus by Katarzyna Skórska was published by W.A.B in 2018). In the summer, Pauza will publish Wyznanie – Katarzyna Skórska’s translation of his latest book, Confidenza (Trust).
