Born in 1955, he studied philosophy and Polish language in Florence and Warsaw. The author of numerous articles on the history and the culture of Poland and Central Europe, and the editor behind the Italian publications of Gombrowicz’s and Herling-Grudziński’s works, as well as the Italian and Spanish translations of Brunon Schulz’s works, he is mostly known in Poland for his Niedojrzałość, choroba naszych czasów (ZNAK, Cracow, 2006); Jadȩ zobaczyć, czy tam jest lepiej. Niemalże brewiarz środkowoeuropejski (ZNAK, Cracow, 2012); Czarnobyl (Czarne, Wołowiec, 2013). Herbert. Studia i dokumenty (ed. Piotr Kłoczowski, Warsaw, 2008) is a collection of correspondence between Zbigniew Herbert and Cataluccio. In 2013, he received Ryszard Kapuściński Award.
