A professor of literary studies, literary critic, prose writer, publicist, and activist, she works and lives in Szczecin. From 1999 to 2012 (when the magazine was closed), she was the editor-in-chief of Szczeciński Dwumiesięcznik Kulturalny Pogranicza. The author of the novel Bambino, nominated for the Nike Literary Award, which deals with the question of identity and the displacement in the post-WWII world. Studying the literature of the 19^th, 20^th, and 21^st century, she is a theoretician of feminism and gender studies, and a member of the council for scientific excellence (Rada Doskonałości Naukowej), the Committee on Literary Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Polish PEN Club, and a literary union Unia Literacka. The editor-in-chief of the scientific journal Autobiografia. Literatura. Kultura. Media, she is the author of the scientific monograph Kresy w twórczości Włodzimierz Odojewskiego (Szczecin, 1994) and the thesis on the prose of Leopold Tyrmand Opowieść i milczenie. O prozie Leopolda Tyrmanda (Szczecin, 2000), as well as writing Granice. Polityczność prozy i dyskursu kobiet po 1989 roku (Szczecin, 2013) and Odmrażanie. Literatura w potrzebie (Szczecin, 2020). A versatile author, she excells in essays: Gender dla średnio zaawansowanych. Wykłady szczecińskie (Warsaw, 2004 and 2008), Parafrazy i reinterpretacje. Wykłady z teorii i praktyki czytania (Szczecin, 2004), Rewindykacje. Kobieta czytająca dzisiaj. (Krakow, 2002); collections of poems: Miłość (Szczecin, 2000) and 39/41 (Szczecin, 2004); short stories: Smaki i dotyki (Warsaw, 2006 and 2014); and novels: Bambino (Warsaw, 2008 and 2015), Ku słońcu (Warsaw 2010 and 2015), Na krótko (Warsaw, 2012), W powietrzu (Warsaw, 2014), Pięćdziesiątka (Warsaw, 2015), Kroniki oporu i miłości (Warsaw, 2019). She also published the collection of columns Blogotony (Warsaw, 2013) and the autobiographical book Umarł mi. Notatnik żałoby (Wołowiec, 2013). In 2017, her play Dziecko directed by Martyna Łyko, also prepared in 2018 for Teatroteka by Barbara Białowąs, premiered in Teatr Współczesny in Szczecin.
